  • I received the notification on September 4, 2009 that our paper titled "Efficient Discovery of Confounders in Large Data Sets" has been accepted for publication at ICDM 2009 as a regular paper. The acceptance rate is below 10% (70 regular papers out of 786 submissions).
  • Back from California! I finished summer internship at Yahoo! Labs on August 28, 2009. I worked with the Response Prediction Team in Sponsored Search. It was great experience!
  • My dissertation proposal has been scheduled on March 11, 2009. Details can be found here.
  • On October 17, 2008, I received a hard copy of the Fall 2008 issue of INFORMS Journal on Computing (JOC), which contains our paper "TOP-K φ Correlation Computation".
  • On October 14, 2008, I was at the Fall 2008 Northeast DB/IR Day at the University of Pennsylvania, presenting a poster on "Volatile Correlation Computation: A Checkpoint View".
  • On October 12, 2008, I did a presentation on "Volatile Correlation Computation for Business Applications" at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Short Biography

Wenjun Zhou is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Management Science and Information Systems at Rutgers Business School. She received her B.S. degree in Information Management and Information System from the University of Science and Technology of China - Hefei, China and a M.S. degree in Biostatistics at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. She began her PhD study at Rutgers Business School in September 2006. Her research interests include data mining, statistical computing, and their applications in business and management science. Her PhD advisor is Prof. Hui Xiong. During her PhD study, Wenjun Zhou has published in referred journals and conference proceedings, such as INFORMS Journal on Computing (JOC), ACM SIGKDD International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD), IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM), ACM SIGIR International Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval (SIGIR) and IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence (ICTAI). She is a recipient of the KDD 2008 Student Travel Award and the KDD 2008 Best Student Paper Runner-Up Award.
